We're excited to share a quick update on what the SELECT team has been working on recently. Head to our changelog for a full list, or read below for the highlights.

Announcing Advanced Filters!

We've significantly upgraded the in-app filtering experience! You can now create advanced, multi-layered filters to refine your data with greater precision. Previously, the app only supported single-level filters that intersected all criteria. This enhancement allows for arbitrary combinations of filters, giving you more control over your data.

Adding multiple sets of criteria with "or" logic

You can also use these advanced filters when configuring Usage Groups!

Filter Directly from a Column

When you’re studying a column in a table, oftentimes you’ll want to be able to quickly apply a filter based on the values you see in those tables.

We’ve made that process much simpler, and you can now click Add Filter on any column in the table to quickly apply a filter on that column’s values!

Add a filter right from the table.

Configurable Table Grain

By default, the workload pages show a row per workload, as you’d expect. However, it is often useful to be able to run a report by different aggregations.

We’ve now made it possible to easily view costs by any dimensions of your choice, for example user, warehouse, usage group, or anything in between. See the video below to see how it’s now possible to produce a report showing costs by user, and their usage group.

New Terraform Provider and API for Managing Usage Groups

Usage Groups provide a flexible way of creating cost categories within SELECT, but for large organizations, keeping Usage Groups up to date can become cumbersome as your organization changes.

We’ve now expanded our public API to include endpoints for managing Usage Groups programmatically, and a Terraform provider for managing usage groups in your Infrastructure as Code setup.

If you’d like to manage your existing Usage Groups via Terraform, we’ve provided a script to generate the appropriate Terraform files and import them into your state. To learn more, see Managing Usage Groups via Terraform.
